Van Upgrade: Caddy Maxi Roofbars

It’s a wee change from the Ducato in this video as we are upgrading Duncan’s Caddy Maxi, fitting roofbars so he can carry his bike on the roof, along with a single roof box and perhaps a tube to store his fishing rods.

When we converted the van we tried to be careful to fit a smaller solar panel to allow space for the roofbars and bike carrier, so fingers crossed it all fits. We bought the roof bars from DST Automotive, this version is called Can Auto Turtle.

Fabulous Findhorn aire in Moray, Scotland

We were attending a family wedding so we decided to take our campervan and stay at the Findhorn aire. We were also joined by our son and daughter in our son’s recently converted Caddy Maxi. You’ll have ready previous posts about the conversion if you’ve been following our journey.

The aire at Findhorn is brilliant. It’s clean and modern, with an electronic booking and access system. Everything worked perfectly from arrival to departure.

We arrived late the previous evening and loved the lack of light pollution. This is the view from our van at 10:30 pm. With the correct conditions you can see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately we did not on this occasion.

It’s a few minutes walk from the aire to the beach.

There is a maximum two day stay so the aire was emptying the day we left and provided a good opportunity to capture the Caddy Maxi in the foreground and our Ducato in the background.

Stop over at Le Mont Bruyere, Saint Amand les Eaux

It’s taken a while to start adding more updates from our tour of France in the summer, so a series of updates will follow.

We visited the Tour de France in Dunkirk where Duncan met Geraint Thomas and collected the famous Gilet.

We stayed here for at Saint Amand les Eaux for a couple of nights, visiting the tour in. Dunkirk and the cobbles.

I spent a day editing and looking after the dogs whilst everyone visited the tour in the cobbles.
