That’s the end of our posts for our 2,200 mile tour of France. You can view video content of the whole trip here.

Jumieges on the Seinne
We continued to travel North and stopped at Jumieges. We are returning from our previous visit on 2014. There is a short ferry crossing across the Seine, with the campsite being only 5-10 minutes drive from the slipway.

The weather has been fabulous this whole trip and it peaked at 40C. This was really too hot for Max, so Wendy wrapped him in a cold water blanket and put a fan in from of him. He was cool and comfortable whilst we were roasting hot.
With very high temperatures we tried to keep a shaded area for Max.

I tool advantage of the hot temperature and peeled off the “Free Time” graphics on our van. We have been planning to create our own logo, so I’ll need to do this now.

The pitches here are large and are enclosed with hedges so they are quite private. This is a quiet site.

Back at the magnificent Mont Saint Michel
We travelled south to Mont Saint Michel. We were last here in 2014. It hasn’t changed much and is still magnificent.
Max (our labrador) is an old man now and not really up for the walk to Mont Saint Michel from the campsite. Dogs are not allowed on the bus so we relaxed here at the campsite for a couple of days.

Moet Chandon and Sameon
The ladies visited Mercier champagne one day and the Moet Chandon another when we were enroute to Sameon. Whilst the ladies toured the champagne Duncan and I watched the Tour de France and the Formula 1 from the comfort of our campervans in the Moet Chandon car park.

This was a quiet rural site with enclosed pitches.

Sameon was a convenient overnight stop for us at the end of an idyllic first week. The “kids” were travelling back to the UK on the Eurotunnel the next day. So this was our last night together, for now.

Val de Vesle Municipal site
We then moved to a municipal camping site at Val de Vesel. We haven’t stayed in French municipal campsites before. We had ready they were basic although I really liked this one. We are quite self sufficient and we don’t use the site toilet block or showers.

The site is surrounded by farmland and the canal is nearby. There is very little amenities in the village so you need to come prepared with everything you need at this site.
There is an interesitng maze created in the corn field. This is next to an amusement park, but I’ve left that out of the images, on purpose.

Stop over at Le Mont Bruyere, Saint Amand les Eaux
It’s taken a while to start adding more updates from our tour of France in the summer, so a series of updates will follow.
We visited the Tour de France in Dunkirk where Duncan met Geraint Thomas and collected the famous Gilet.

We stayed here for at Saint Amand les Eaux for a couple of nights, visiting the tour in. Dunkirk and the cobbles.

I spent a day editing and looking after the dogs whilst everyone visited the tour in the cobbles.

Arrived in Guines, France
After an overnight Britstop in Chesterfield enroute from Glasgow we took the Eurotunnel and arrived in Guines. We had a trouble free quick trip on the Eurotunnel with an easy pet check-in. Max did not like the train very much though.

We arrived in Guines to nice weather and settled in for a few nights.

We are staying on sites for the first part of the trip as we travel in a family convoy. We have stayed here many times over the years. It’s a lovely rural relaxed site, yet still close to the Eurotunnel and ferry terminal.

This is the first trip in Duncan’s Caddy Maxi as we just finished the build, so far so good.

We are off to watch the Tour de France over the next few days.
Norfolk Broads
This video captures an overview of an overnight Britstop in South Kelvington, Yorkshire then West Runton, the Norfolk Broads, Bakewell and the Metal Bridge Inn Britstop near Carlisle.
We visited a few beaches, flew our drone a few times and captured some of the boating on the Nortfolk Broads.
West Runton CCC site
It is an interesting off road drive down to the CCC site. Wendy didn’t like this drive very much especially after the narrowness of the A149. Fortunately we did not meet anything coming the other way.

We also made short visit to the beach at West Runton.

It is not easy to find parking for campervans at West Runton as most of the car parks have height barriers. The car park at the beach is limited to 2.1 metres so we parked opposite the shops on the main road.
We also made a visit to the beach at Cromer.

Sunrise at Luce Bay and Scotland’s Most Southerly Point
The day started well with a beautiful sunrise from our campervan door. I captured some of the sunset from the beach.

We set off to visit the Mull of Galloway lighthouse and Scotland’s most Southerly point. The weather was great and this is a brilliant drive. Well worth the effort.
On the way back to the campsite we visited the harbour at Port Logan too.

The video below captures some of the drive, Mull of Galloway and Port Logan.
