Europe 2024 La Rochelle, Mont Saint Michel, Le Crotoy and Calais

In this video we leave Ile De Re heading North with four more park ups along the way. We have an overnight park up in the aire at La Rochelle and a wee tour of La Rochelle itself – what a beautiful place. We then spend a couple of days at the stunning Mont Saint Michel campsite and then stay over at an aire in Le Crotoy. We are staying at the second aire next to the harbour that we haven’t been to before. Our final park up in France is the aire at Calais. Whilst we are parked up we have several e-bike tours along the way too.

Europe 2024: Ile De Re, France Coast to Coast

Episode 2 of our European tour travels coast to coast across Ile De Re staying at three different campsites across the island and touring in between on our MiRider e-bikes. This is a lovey place with many cycle tracks to explore. Our touring spans Loix, Saint Martin De Re, La Flotte, Saint Marie De Re, Rivedoux Plage – starting in the North West corner and travelling to the South East corner. It’s well worth visiting here.

Europe 2024: Travelling to Ile De Re, France with stop overs at Bolougne Sur Mer, Honfleur and Nozay

Episode 1 of our summer European tour travels from the Glasgow area in Scotland to Loix in Ile De Re, France. We have park ups in Rugby, England by the canal and aires at both Honfleur and Nozay in France before travelling over the bridge onto the island of Ile De Re. This is the first big trip for our new pup, Lola the Miniature Pinscher, and it’s also the first big trip with our MiRider e-bikes. We intend to tour many of our stops via the cycle routes, so we’ll be capturing footage from the e-bikes as well as our campervan. Lola also has a place on Wendy’s MiRider. Our first impressions of Ile De Re are very good.

Visiting Borough Bridge, Knaresborough and York

We visited the CCC campsite at Borough Bridge. This is a nice quiet site on the banks of the river Ure. It is prone to flooding so the electrical hooks ups are raised and there are two large signs informing you of the flood alert warning. There were no alerts when we were there.

Heavy rain did cause water to collect on the pitches and roads.

This is a nice site. Outside the site is quite industrial and it is near the A1M.

We visited Knaresborough, Mother Shipton’s Cave (the oldest tourist attraction in England) and York whilst we were here.

Scarborough CCC, the Cleveland Way and Robin Hood’s Bay

We parked up at the Scarborough CCC for a few days. This is a really nice site, with good bus links if you want to leave the campervan.

We walked along the cliffs of the Cleveland Way into Scarborough and took a trip to Robin Hood’s Bay. This is worth visiting.

We had some starry nights and Wendy was able to try out her new Solo Stove (on top of a table of course, off the grass).

The Scalby Manor local pub/restaurant next to the campsite was good too.

Enjoying Sunrises and the Milky Way at Garlieston

We parked up on the edge of the sea at Garlieston Bay. It’s really nice here and we’ve enjoyed walking along the beach, around the harbour and watching a Heron and Cormorant. We’ve enjoyed spectacular sunrises and saw some of the Milky Way in this dark sky area. There is one pub/restaurant at the Harbour Inn and one cafe at the Hive cafe. Both are good and the people are friendly. Storm Babet created high winds overnight and since Wendy never slept a wink we decided to head home a couple of days early. We plan on returning.

Tour: Milton of Fonab, Pitlochry

We had a short trip to the Milton of Fonab Campsite at Pitlochry, on the river Tummel. This is a lovely site with about a 25 minute walk from the site into Pitlochry over the suspension bridge. There’s stuff to do in Pitlochry, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs.

The river Tummel is damned with hydroelectric power and there is a salmon ladder too.

It’s worth a visit here and we plan on returning in the future.

Tour: Europe 2023 Episode 4 Fussen to Lake Garda

In this episode we drive from Fussen in Germany at the end of the Romantic Road to Bardolino at Lake Garda, Italy. As we arrive at Lake Gard the pace of our tour slows down a little as we planning on staying here for nine nights.

There’s lots to do here so and we have a booking at a Fiat garage in Verona in a few days to have the van checked over.

The weather is brilliant and then we experience a sudden storm one midnight, followed by a bird having a dislike to my drone.

This is our third trip to Bardolino and whilst little has changed, we are glad about this as we really like it here. It’s the first time we have seen the amphibious classic car.

Europe Tour 2023 Episode 3 – The Castles

We are enroute from Landsberg am Lech to Fussen in Germany, travelling along the final part of the Romantic Road. We park up in the beautiful Bandwalsee valley and tour the spectacular castles. These are a must see.

The Romantic Road has been great. It’s not always easy to follow but we got there. Sadly, as we arrive in Fussen it is complete. Next we head to Italy, in episode 4.
